There are many options and styles to choose from when it comes to deciding on a counter top, but the decisions on a few important factors can help make sure that your investment pays of for years to come.

Warranty

I don't know of anyone that's going to give you a warranty on granite, in fact our installers said it's our problem the moment they step out the door if it cracks, etc. Most of the manmades come with a 10 year warranty from what I remember. Quartz will also allow larger overhangs without support than granite.

Maintenance

Many people find that the maintenance of granite is just a pain, if you do what you're supposed to, plus the cost of the sealants (good sealants anyway) is on the high side which will end up costing you more in the long run for sure.
