Granite vs. Quartz
Finding the Right Countertop for your Home Project
Pricing
Pricing for counter top surfaces can range widely depending on many factors such as slab size, thickness, grade of cut, rareity of natural material, etc. Natural stones like granite, marble, and onyx all suffer from the variations inherent with natural material ie. cracking warping, veining, splitting, fracturing, etc.
For the most part, prices of natural stone and quartz products are comparable, but due to the rareity of certain natural materials there is a much higher price point for certain granite and marble cut which are usually referred to as exotics.
On the other hand, because Quartz is an engineered product its pricing is not affect by many of the factors that cause natural stone prices to fluctuate. As a result, Quartz prices are more stable and as the material becomes more commonly used the cost of production will bring the cost down even more.
